Cairo, City of a thousand minarets

Cairo is the capital and largest city of Egypt, live here 787 6 000 permanent residents, the whole conurbation counts up to 17.285 million inhabitants (the so-called Greater Cairo), which makes it the largest city in Africa. It's easy to get lost in this bustling city with thousands of passers-by. Cairo is also the largest center of the Islamic world. It is also located on the longest river in the world - the Nile. Here, everything is big, the wide Nile, dominate tall skyscrapers, and in the background over the city as the ancient statues are characterized by the shapes of the pyramids. On the horizon over the city like ancient statues, may see the shapes of the pyramids.

Cairo is also called the "City of a thousand minarets", "Mother of the World", the "Big Mango". In Arabic literary Cairo is known as "al-Qahira," which refers to the Arabic name of the planet Mars - Qahira al-Falak, and literally translates to "winning." Over a thousand yards, nearly three thousand mosques and the oldest in the world, more than thousand-year university Al Azhar. Beautiful houses of the old Muslim quarter, superluxe residences and thumping nightlife. Kari is modern but traditional. This combination makes it a unique and original place.

Cairo is a very safe city. Crime is very low. The first impression after leaving the plane is an incredible heat, the air seems thick and sticky. The second impression is overwhelming noise. Standing in the kilometer traffic jams, drivers honk mercilessly, using horns more as greetings than a warning to other users traffic. Between the cars circulate seller of coffee and tea, sweets, newspapers and kitschy souvenirs.

The third impression is the love for life. This city never sleeps. Many shops and small street pubs are open until late at night or early morning. Coming to them with loud shouts of vendors encourage to join and try the local specialties and melodic sounds of Arabic pop.

In Cairo you can easily navigate the subway. Cairo metro is only next to the Algerian in Africa. The length of the network is 62 km. In areas outside the city center it is routed along the surface. Currently working in Cairo two metro lines - green and red. This is the cheapest public transport (ticket price - 1 Egyptian pound). Some subway cars (described sign of the woman and the Arabic inscription) are designed exclusively for women.

In Cairo, there are many wonderful sights, museums and attractions. However, there are things you need to see:
1.       Giza and the Pyramids of Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure, and the Sphinx
2.       Memphis, the capital of the empire of the Old Kingdom of Egypt with the colossus of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx.
3.       Sakkara the first and oldest stepped pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser
4.       Egyptian Museum
5.       Saladin Citadel
6.       Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali
7.       Mukattanu in the death city
